This was a trip bookended by two active volcanoes. It was a journey from Mt Vesuvius in Naples to Mt Etna in Sicily. Daily life continues in the shadow of these volcanoes, ever-present in the background and shaping the story of each place.

This gallery brings together cycling, travel and landscape photography from Southern Italy. Starting in Naples, riding along the Amalfi Coast, through Maratea and other towns along the route and taking a ferry over to Sicily before climbing Etna on our last day.
